Cameras
Once you have a rugged and reliable Local Area Network (LAN), you can use it for numerous applications.
Cameras for monitoring, security, and documenting is just one more application that leverages your LAN. Today's cameras can be wired onto the LAN and where they
can be viewed conveniently. Camera images can be viewed by authorized people in real time from the LAN - and with proper configuration, it can also be viewed via the Internet. This
enables authorized people to "tune in" whenever they wish which can be a very helpful management and security tool.
Cameras can be used to monitor and admit people remotely, record events for subsequent use (e.g. training, investigations, security, and even legal action) and
provide an added level of management overview.
Camera images can be transferred over the Internet for off site storage right after the images were recorded or at a later time.
At one time you ran a separate camera network, wired it entirely differently than the LAN, and equipped it with its own equipment for camera image display. Often
the camera wires were run parallel to your LAN wires which duplicated materials, labor and expense. This can still be done today but, depending upon your needs, this may not be in
your best interest. Today, depending upon your needs, it may be better using your LAN - minimizing installation labor, equipment, and expense. If you already have a conventional
camera system, and want to view it using the LAN, we can set up a LAN interface to do this using most of your exisitng equipment. This would merge the technologies and in some cases
prove very cost effective.
Camera images can be viewed by authorized people in real time from the LAN. With a VPN connection to your LAN, you can do this from anywhere you have an Internet
connection. This enables authorized people to "tune in" whenever they wish which can be a very helpful management and security tool. In many cases a VPN may not be required and
viewing is similar to viewing a web page.
Clearly the LAN approach to cameras in the workplace is cost effective and prudent - and one we are proud to provide.
If you have a conventional camera system now, we will be glad to service and extend it to the degree it is economically prudent to do.
Security
Security encompasses a large area - including limiting access, remote access approvals, biometric (e.g. finger print reader) access, intrusion detection,
etc. While many of these concepts have been around, the newer methods for achievement include integration to your data and phone networks. Often we can provide a very attractive
package to monitor, document, allow appropriate access and discourage inappropriate access.
